Choosing a modest wedding dress: six details that matter
In a modest wedding dress, the sleeves, neckline and veil are the design itself. With the right cut, fabric and accessories, the gown can be both comfortable and truly elegant.
When you choose a modest wedding dress, details such as the sleeves, the neckline and the veil shape the whole silhouette. Thinking through these six points before your fitting makes the choice much easier.
1. How the fabric falls
Satin, crêpe and heavier weaves fall fluidly and gracefully. Tulle and lace, used in layers, add lightness. Think about the season too: at a summer wedding, breathable fabrics keep you comfortable all day.
2. Sleeves
A straight long sleeve feels clean and modern; bishop or ruffled sleeves bring a more romantic mood. Look at how the sleeve finishes at the wrist as well. If you are considering gloves or a bracelet, we can try them together at your fitting.
3. Neckline
A high neck, a bateau neckline with a draped shawl or a closed V each create a different effect. The neckline should work with the way you wrap your hijab, so it helps to come to your fitting with a scarf tied close to how you plan to wear it on the day.
4. Veil and hijab together
When the veil matches the fabric and colour of your hijab, the look feels seamless. A veil with pearls or crystal work can make a simple gown shine on its own.
5. Silhouette
Ball gown, A-line and straight cuts are the most popular silhouettes for modest bridal. A high waist and a long train create a graceful, elongated line.
6. Ease of movement
There will be photographs, dancing and guests to greet. At your fitting, sit down, stand up, raise your arms and walk a few steps. If something does not feel right, we can adjust it when the gown is made to your measurements.
Every gown in our collection can be made modest, with a closed neckline, long sleeves and full lining. Fittings take place in private rooms with an all-female team at our boutiques in İzmit and Ankara, and if you live abroad we can begin with a video consultation.
